ARMY PAINTING TIPS

One of the great things about the Games Workshop hobby is that you have a good deal of control over the composition of your army and how you paint it. There are many different ways to paint your forces, and no one way is better than another. In the end, it's all about having painted miniatures that look great on the battlefield. Some hobbyists carefully paint each miniature to 'Eavy Metal standards, and their armies always astound. Other mere mortals (like us) paint their armies to a level where they'll always be respected on the tabletop battlefields. Though you can certainly use the new Citadel Foundation Paints to paint up to Golden Demon standards (the 'Eavy Metal Team is using them), those of us aiming for a respectable army will find a lot of good uses for the Citadel Foundation Paints. Here are a few of the ways we've found to use these exciting new paints to prepare an army for battle.

You can play games with models basecoated like those above while you ponder your next painting step.

You've assembled your army of models and undercoated them with either Chaos Black or Skull White Spray Paint, Picture of a pot of Mechrite Red Citadel Foundation Paint.but you're feeling a little nervous about how to paint all these miniatures. The new Citadel Foundation Paints are a great way to get started. These paints were made for basecoating and are a great first step in getting your army painted. Because the Citadel Foundation Paints have such a high opacity property, they cover your undercoat in one application. They also work great with Citadel Colours, so once you have decided on a color scheme for your army, you can use the Foundation paints for the basecoat and then the corresponding Citadel Colours for your highlights and other details.

Sometimes, when painting an entire army, it can make sense to use the assembly-line method to keep the models looking consistent. Basecoat your entire army first, and then move on to the next step. Don't forget that basecoated models are perfectly acceptable for gaming right away, so get them on the table as you prepare for your next painting steps.
